PM ratifies visa exemption with Egypt

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has ratified the visa exemption agreement between the governments of Vietnam and Egypt.

Under the agreement, the two countries’ citizens who hold diplomatic, official or special passports are free from visa requirements.

The agreement was signed by Deputy Foreign Minister Doan Xuan Hung and Egyptian Ambassador to Vietnam Alaa Elleissy on August 18, 2010 in Hanoi.

Egypt was the first Arabian country to establish bilateral relations with Vietnam. Vietnam first opened its commercial representative office in Egypt in 1958, and opened an embassy in Cairo in 1963. Egypt’s Embassy in Hanoi was opened in 1964.
